About Sonya

I am a native English speaker, but have lots of international experience. I have been competing in English creative writing, public speech, and debate for six years, and began tutoring in middle school. I am very skilled with languages and can empathize with new learners. Most of my family in Taiwan also learned English from the beginning!

I believe in the potential for each student to succeed, no matter their age, nationality, or background. I believe in you!

About the lesson

I want to be not only your tutor but also your friend. I always understand a student's background first, so I can design classes that suit their needs and interests. I am kind, patient, and also able to translate between English, Chinese, and a bit of Arabic. I have taught students from age 3 to age 45, although I feel most confident helping students in middle or high school.
