At the start of each meeting, I carry on a casual conversation asking the student how they are doing. This helps them feel more opened and comfortable and beginning of tutor. As the session begins, I ask if they have any questions on the homework, or the tasks they were given and make sure that everything was understood.
I go over today's agenda to give them an overview of what the session will look like. As I am going through the new lesson, I prepare reading materials and games such as flash cards or cross puzzles. I carry on conversations with the student throughout the whole session. As the session comes to an end, I debrief with the student for any questions they have, and explain to them the next assignment.
