About Makayla

As a graduate student at the University of Texas at San Antonio with an MBA and currently pursuing a second Master's in Data Science, I bring both academic expertise and real-world insight to every tutoring session. With over a decade of experience—including peer tutoring, college-level support, and serving as a TA—I've helped students of all ages succeed across a wide range of subjects. My specialty is math, but I'm equipped to support learners from elementary school through graduate studies. I take pride in creating a respectful, engaging, and results-driven learning environment where students feel supported and empowered to reach their goals. You can count on me to be professional, prepared, and fully invested in your academic success.

About the lesson

My Approach as a Tutor:

I take a student-centered, adaptable approach that makes learning both effective and enjoyable. I simplify complex concepts using real-life examples and focus on building confidence through conversation and guided problem-solving. My sessions are interactive and encouraging, helping students stay engaged and motivated.

A Typical Lesson Plan:

Each lesson begins with a quick review, followed by goal setting for the session. I introduce new material in a step-by-step way, using visuals or examples when helpful. We work through problems together, and I end with a recap and tips for continued practice.

What Sets Me Apart:

With over 10 years of tutoring experience—from high school peer tutoring to being a graduate-level TA—I bring both depth and versatility. I hold an MBA and am pursuing a second Master’s in Data Science at UTSA. My specialty is math, but I support a wide range of subjects. I’m known for making learning fun and approachable.

Who I Tutor:

I work with school-age students, high schoolers, college students, and adult learners. Whether you're learning basic math, tackling AP statistics, or preparing for graduate-level coursework, I tailor each session to meet your specific needs and goals.
