About Lydia

I am a graduate student in applied statistics at Michigan State University with my bachelor’s from Duke University. I spent two years teaching before starting my PhD. While a PhD student, I have worked as an applied statistician on different research projects and have been a teaching assistant for the graduate level quantitative methods course. I have experience applying math and statistics, teaching, and coding in R studio, stata, spss, python, mplus as well as a knowledge of Latex.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is to guide you in learning how to learn and walk through the materials, learning the thought processes and skills to be able to solve problems on your own. Depending on the course, the lessons will include a series of additional practice to help you walk through various problems you may see in your class. In both math and statistics, this will include helping you to learn the software you will need for your class. I am able to tutor algebra through calc 4 and linear algebra as well as most college level statistics courses and graduate level quantitative methods courses.

Perfect! Lydia is an excellent tutor. She took the time to get to know me first, and then proposed a plan for how our session would go. What I like most about her is how she helped me grasp how to tackle problems based on what our professor teaches us in class. I liked her approach and the way she broke down complex problems. She made statistics seem simple to me. Lydia is a patient, well-educated, kind, funny, brilliant, professional, and personable individual. I will certainly schedule further classes with her. I wholeheartedly recommend working with Lydia.
