About Olga

All my life has to do with learning math, using math and teaching math. I studied math at Moscow State University, Physics Department. While being a M.S. student at Northeastern University, I worked as a teaching assistant. I used math while working as a programmer for various computer companies. During the past 12 years I was tutoring math to my son and other students of his age. I worked with students of ages 6 through 17. Presently I work as a math teacher at an afterschool math program.

About the lesson

-- I teach by showing how to do it, then by doing it together with a students, and finally by letting a student do it by her/himself.

-- The typical lesson plan would look like so:

1. Review of a homework, answering questions about the problems
2. Introducing a new topic.
3. Independent classwork, solving problems
4. Review of a past topic, solving problems
5. Interesting or challenging problems
6. Summary, what a student has learned today

-- The lessons are geared towards students of Grade 1 - Grade 8
