About Darrell

I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, just 30 minutes east of Washington D.C. Coming from a family of professionals, with both my grandfather and great-grandfather being attorneys-at-law, and my mom working as an educator for over 25 years, education and professional development have always been important values in my life. Additionally, my grandmother has been working as a German to English to French interpreter for over 30 years.

Initially, my plan upon entering university was to follow in the footsteps of my family and become an attorney. However, as I explored my options, I realized the vast array of opportunities available to me and ultimately pursued a degree in Political Science. After completing my degree, I taught government to middle school students and worked as a political and business organizer for six years.

Eventually, I found my way back to the field of education as a reengagement specialist, where I brokered partnerships with the business community to support students who were reenrolling in high school. This role allowed me to apply my knowledge of politics and business to create meaningful opportunities for young people.

Following this, I spent three years working at a real estate investment firm. I began as an acquisitions specialist and quickly climbed the ranks to become the Vice President of Business Relations. During my time there, I was able to secure the largest account in the company's history. Working alongside estate attorneys, accountants, property managers, and real estate agents, I facilitated larger portfolio deals and gained expertise in the intricacies of the real estate industry.

Combining my background in business, politics, and education, I have now transitioned to teaching English. Drawing from both my classroom experience and my real-world knowledge, my aim is to help professionals further their growth and success. I believe that my unique blend of skills and experiences will enable me to effectively support individuals in their language learning journey while providing practical and applicable insights from various industries.

Thank you for considering my profile, and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the success of your platform and the growth of your students.

Sincerely,

Darrell Jackson

Since the start of the pandemic, I have grown tremendously in the word of Real Estate sales, clearing close to 1 million dollars in revenue for my company in that time using my sales technique. Sure! Here is an explanation of my approach as a tutor and how I share my knowledge:

As a tutor, my teaching method focuses on creating an interactive and engaging learning environment for my students. I believe in a student-centered approach where students are actively involved in the learning process. I encourage participation, critical thinking, and language production through a variety of techniques, such as discussions, role-plays, hands-on activities, and multimedia resources. I tailor my lessons to cater to individual learning styles and preferences, ensuring that students stay motivated and make progress in their language skills.

My typical lesson plan consists of three main components: introduction, practice, and application. In the introduction phase, I introduce the topic or language point and provide clear learning objectives. This is followed by engaging activities or exercises that allow students to practice and reinforce their understanding of the topic. In the application phase, students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-life scenarios or personalized tasks, promoting practical language use and building confidence.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of teaching expertise and real-world experience. With my TEFL certification and practical teaching experience, I bring a solid foundation of language teaching techniques and methodologies to my lessons. Additionally, my background in sales allows me to provide practical and relevant language training for business professionals. I incorporate authentic materials, industry-related vocabulary, and business communication skills into my lessons, ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary tools to succeed in their professional endeavors.

My lessons are designed for a wide range of students, from beginner to advanced levels. I am comfortable teaching individuals or small groups in a classroom setting or through online platforms. My expertise in business English makes me particularly suited to professionals who need to improve their English language skills in a corporate or business environment. However, I also have experience teaching general English for everyday use, exam preparation, and academic purposes. Each lesson is tailored to the specific needs and goals of the students, taking into account their level of proficiency, learning style, and preferences.

Overall, my approach as a tutor is focused on creating a supportive and interactive learning environment where students feel empowered to actively engage with the language and achieve their language learning goals. I believe in adapting my teaching techniques to meet the needs of individual students and providing practical and relevant language training that can be applied in real-world contexts.

Thank you for considering my approach and sharing my knowledge. I am confident that my teaching method and experience will contribute to the success of your platform and meet the needs of your students.

Sincerely,

Darrell Jackson
