In my teaching practices, I attach significant importance to communication and interactivity. I tend to introduce classroom debates, ask generic question just to build a sense of trust and openness with the student, mini role plays, simulations and other forms of teaching in my classroom to change the conventional passivity in the student’s acquisition of English language.
During communicative activities the pupils are far from quiet. They do most of the speaking, and generally the atmosphere in classroom during the lesson is active. I also create room for improvement by facilitating their reading skills, comprehension skills and I also test their understanding from time to time just to check whether they understood the slides. In cases of having a class with more than 2 people I allocate time evenly and create spaces for input from each student on each slide. This helps me helps to not create space for ‘not enough talking time’ in class..
