About Lynda

My love of teaching for over 27 years began with a realization of which teachers in my years of learning could really teach. Those skilled teachers helped me love their subject and their approach. Teachers and professors from Hobart and William Smith College, Geneva, NY, from which I graduated Summa Cum Laude and became a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society, taught me that dedication to learning could pay off. As a student I not only learned the subject but gained a passion for learning. I had wonderful professors at Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT from which I learned innovative approaches to teaching and received a Masters of Teaching degree. My lifelong love of learning led me to years of other graduate courses in English and German at the University of New Hampshire and Middlebury College, Middlebury, VT.

Each session is custom designed for a particular student. I use the great variety of materials I have to address each need. I specialize in tutoring English and German for success in school, on all standardized tests and in everyday life. Whether teaching and tutoring in such varied demographic areas as farm country in Upstate New York, suburbia in Andover, MA and Melrose MA or the City of Boston , I feel I have an understanding of many kinds of students. My goals for each lesson are to keep the student challenged and proud of their accomplishments but not overwhelmed. I never forget that the learning process takes time and patience on the part of the teacher and the student. I ask for feedback to keep myself on track for the individual learner. Many of my students have been surprised and relieved that I understand not only the material they are trying to master but the process they are going through.
My materials are cutting edge online to teach speech, interaction from informal to technical aspects, structure of the language and fun in learning.
My homework assignments are designed to prepare for the next session. They are innovative and meant to get the student ready on their own terms for the next step. I give friendly challenges and assessments followed by a progress report.

Arrangements for location and time are flexible. I look forward to working with you!
