About Petra
I grew up in the Southwest of Germany, where I attended Tübingen University, but have now lived in the UK for 35 years.
My passion for teaching German is undiminished. I believe that learning a foreign language is a fantastic opportunity and a deeply enriching experience as it allows students to connect with people from other countries and to gain an insight into their culture and history.

I prepare every lesson individually with the student's interests and needs in mind. My teaching follows Rosenshine's Principles of Instruction, including regular revision, presenting new material in small steps with plenty of examples and worked-through models and supporting the student's progress through questions and checking.
A positive climate of patience and understanding is important to me and I aim to inspire students and to make them achieve their very best.
My typical lessons are 60 minutes, both online and face-to-face.
I have an M.A. in English and German, a doctorate in English Literature and a teaching qualification and have taught at two universities and three sixth form colleges in the UK as well as for several tutor companies, both online and face to face.
