About Joe
I'm a musician, composer and sound designer with many years of experience playing guitar and bass, as well as creating music for film, animation and other media.
Music has always been a big part of my life, and I enjoy helping other people discover the same enjoyment and confidence through playing guitar. My approach is friendly, patient and practical: I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing at their own pace.
I particularly enjoy working with beginners and developing players, whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time, returning to it after a break, or simply wanting to become more confident playing your favorite songs.
Alongside guitar, my professional work in composition, recording and sound design gives me a broad understanding of music that I can bring into lessons where useful. I'm happy to adapt lessons around your interests and musical goals, whether that's simply learning songs, improving your technique or developing a deeper understanding of music.
I'm based in Geneva and offer lessons both in person and online.

My lessons are relaxed, practical and tailored to each student. I believe the best way to learn guitar is to play music you actually enjoy, while gradually building the skills and understanding that make you a better player.
For beginners, I focus on the essentials: chords, rhythm, strumming, basic technique and learning songs. We can work towards playing your favourite songs from the beginning, rather than spending weeks only studying exercises. As you progress, I can introduce music theory, scales, improvisation, songwriting and other areas depending on your interests.
A typical lesson might include a short warm-up or technique exercise, followed by work on a song or specific skill. We'll look at anything you're finding difficult, practise it together and finish with some clear ideas to work on between lessons.
My lessons are particularly suited to beginners and developing players who want a friendly, encouraging approach and would like to become more confident playing the music they love. Acoustic and electric guitar and bass are welcome.
