About Daniel
While I have mentored and tutored students through application processes which granted them admissions to doctorate programs, employment at high ranking public offices, and selective corporate positions, I think one of my proudest achievements is raising the SAT scores by 200 points for a class that met on Saturday mornings -- mostly because I think it demonstrates how engaged and fun I make learning, even if a high school student has to wake up early on a Saturday morning, even moreso for a class about such an erudite exam as the SAT.

When teaching a lesson, I generally like to begin as general as possible, with various key learning points along with examples, which ultimately moves towards a greater lesson or point.
For example, if I were teaching how to write an essay, I would first give the general structure of an essay, assess where the student is in grasping the concept, and then supplement more learning according to that assessment. Then, after that general understanding has been established, I would move onto the very specifics of writing an essay, while getting as detailed as needed: for example, I would most likely also talk about the introductory paragraph, the body of the essay, as well as the conclusion and how they differ, as well as their specific functions in the overall essay.
We would do some class examples -- both reading examples, and then after some examples, I'd motion towards practicing either outlining a hypothetical essay, and eventually practicing writing, which would be reviewed for improvements.
What sets me apart from other tutors is my ability to create the specific, tailored lesson plan according to the needs of the student. I'm fantastic at identifying the students level of understanding, while being able to show examples and make lessons which deepen the student's understanding and elevate the student's production.
I'm very proud to have taught from elementary school to the university -- although the university is the bulk of my teaching and professional experience. Because I've taught from elementary through the university, it has made me adaptable as a teacher in service of the student's learning and growth.
