About Blake
Hey Everyone!
My name is Blake, and I received a $110,000 full ride scholarship to study Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics at the University of Alabama, solely based on my ACT score (34). During my senior year there, I also studied for the LSAT and received multiple full ride scholarships for my LSAT score.
When it comes to learning, I find something fundamentally wrong with typical classroom settings. The problem is explained, then the solution is explained, but rarely does the teacher address WHY that is the solution. Instead of problem solving, we're being taught how to solve that specific problem - which are not one in the same.
My approach to tutoring is not just to teach the problem in front of the students but to also improve their fundamental way of how to solve ANY problem. This especially applies to math and physics.
In terms of test prep, I've earned a 36 on 3/4 ACT sections over 3 attempts. During untimed LSAT practice tests, I would rarely miss a question, but the time constraints are no joke, so I came out with a 164 (90th percentile). While studying for these tests, I also spent time working with anyone who was trying to learn as well. It noticeably improved their score, understanding of strategies and overall confidence in the material.
I always strive to make learning as enjoyable as possible, and being "only" 27 makes it possible to relate to a large spectrum of age groups.
Although I am brand new to this site, I have extensive experience tutoring both for free, for credits, and for pay.

My lessons can be in person (Tulsa Area) or via video chat. I built a company a few years ago, and now it's mostly automated, so I have been tutoring part time to stay sharp on subjects that I find interesting.
In my personal experience, I found many ways to optimize studying time and improve retention which I will happily share with my students. Studying, like everything else, is a skill that can be learned and improved. The people who spend 50 hours a week flipping through material to "learn" are missing the whole point. They're not learning to learn, so it takes much more time and effort to accomplish what could be done much more efficiently.
In summary, students will learn the material they're struggling with and also learn new ways of approaching problems, which I hope will help them long after our sessions are complete.
