About Louise

I am an Artist and Educator who has worked in the Arts industry for over 30 years.
After a career break as an Artist and Restorer I began regularly teaching Art to neurodiverse adults at 'Break Charity', enabling them to achieve a variety of Creative Visual Arts projects.
I was then chosen by 'Action for Children' to lead their 'Art Matters' project in 2009 which gave their client group of key stage 2 young carers the opportunity to have their work displayed in the Victoria and Albert museum.
I also led and project managed a series of Art workshops called the ''1 in 4'' event helping young service users for Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust to create multidisciplinary Art as an expressive platform. This culminated in an exhibition to raise awareness about public perceptions of their conditions to dispel the stigma of 'mental health conditions'.
I found it very rewarding to enable students from a variety of backgrounds to learn and create something inspiring from a subject that I really love. This led, me on to teach in schools and colleges over the past 6 years.
I have also worked collaboratively with many other Arts projects over the years including The 'Edible East Art & Science trail' in Norwich by Exhibiting my Sculpture, to Exhibiting paintings, Photography and handmade prints locally and nationally.
I ran printmaking classes in small groups privately from my studio from 2016 to 2018 as well as teaching in a small further education College: Art Academy East running printmaking workshops for the leisure classes. When I taught the L1 and 2&3 UAL courses I set up a print department as well as teaching drawing and painting enabling and encouraging students to go on to Art Schools. I have a broad Arts and educational experience and I am able to teach all abilities.

About the lesson

My personable and informative approach to Art teaching is adapted to the needs of each individual.

There is a focus on the nuts and bolts of drawing: the importance of observing, affective sketching and simple line drawings.

How to draw form, using 3 dimensional drawing techniques such as: tonal drawing and rendering texture.

Further to this: colour theory, combined with painting techniques. Photography, mixed media, textiles, 3D work (sculpture) and History of Art are explored.

Techniques for GCSE L2 and 3 coursework, practice and preparation for exams are also available.

Details

I charge £25 and hour online or in person.

£115 for a 5 hour block booking
£220 for a 10 hour block booking
First Booking free 45 Minutes.
(If I have to travel to you I charge the national HMRC Rate between the 45p under 10,000 miles and the 25p rate over that to average it out to 35p per mile).
I will not travel further than 30 miles one way at this rate. If you require me to travel further please contact me to discuss this.
The Small print:
Cancellation must be done with at least 7 days notice unless there is a genuine reason such as an illness. Other wise your deposit will be non refunadable.
