About Sneha

I have several years of experience teaching and working with youth in both professional and tutoring settings, across a wide range of ages and subjects. I worked as an independent online tutor for 1 year, providing one-on-one math instruction to 3rd and 4th grade students. I focused on building foundational math skills, improving confidence, and offering individualized support based on each student’s learning pace. I worked at Kumon for 1.5 years, supporting K–6th grade students in math and reading. My responsibilities included guiding students through daily assignments, reinforcing core concepts, tracking progress, and helping students develop strong study habits and independence. I have worked with Varsity Tutors for 2.5 years, tutoring 6th–11th grade students in math, accounting, reading, SAT, and ACT preparation. This role involved one-on-one instruction, targeted test-prep strategies, and adapting lessons to meet individual academic goals. Overall, I have worked with children and adolescents for approximately 5 years, teaching learners ranging from kindergarten through 11th grade in both academic support and standardized test preparation.

About the lesson

I am especially passionate about teaching math, with a strong focus on algebra. I enjoy helping students move from feeling unsure about math to feeling confident and capable by breaking down concepts into simple, understandable steps. A typical 25- or 55-minute session begins with a short conversation where I ask the student what they already know about the topic and where they feel confused. Together, we set clear goals for the session so the student understands what they will be able to do by the end of the lesson. Next, I introduce or review the concept using clear explanations and real examples. I often show short example videos or visual demonstrations to reinforce understanding. After that, I work through guided practice problems, modeling how to approach each step, and then have the student solve similar problems with my support. I use a virtual whiteboard to write out problems, explain steps visually, and encourage students to actively participate by solving problems alongside me. I also share custom guides and notes that I create for each topic so students can review the material after the session.
Families can expect sessions to be structured, efficient, and interactive, with a strong emphasis on understanding rather than memorization. By the end of each lesson, students should feel more confident in the topic and have a clear grasp of the key concepts covered.
