About Olivia
My practice focuses on combining abstraction with realism. My current work delves into consciousness and understanding the link between science and art. I just returned from a 6-month residency programme in Taiwan which inspired me to teach and engage in more workshop-orientated modes of working/learning. Overall I feel I have been focussed on this subject for a significant proportion of my life and understand both the skills required as well as the philosophy that comes with being both an educator and artist.

My general approach to teaching is pushing my student's boundaries whilst also encouraging them to develop as individual artists. I'm empathetic and calm. I would strive to develop your child's confidence and skills. I teach all ages although for younger students: General arts and crafts would be for KS1 and Lower KS2 (ages 5-8). Upper KS2 would be aimed at developing key skills - sketching, mark making, observing form and shape, and using different mediums. KS3 would delve into sculpture, basic colour theory and helping my students to consolidate their existing skills. Equally if a more specific skill needs to be taught and it is within my skillset I am more than happy to focus on this.
Both my parents are teachers (primary and secondary) due to this I was exposed to educating children at a very young age, for example helping my mother with art lesson planning and assisting her in art lessons. I achieved an A* in both GCSE and A-Level, and a Distinction in my Foundation Level. I am on target to get a first this coming year from The University of the Arts London.
The typical length of a lesson is an hour including set up and tidying away time. I am more than happy to do longer lessons, group lessons, as well as party events. Art resources are supplied on a person-to-person basis and may involve extra costs depending on what the requirement is.
