I take a personal approach to teaching, and depending on the ability level of the student, like to work more towards musical styles that they have a particular interest in, but whilst always focusing on good fundamentals and technique.
I also feel that the drum kit is a very musical instrument, something very often overlooked by many tutors, and when played with confidence and intent can be extremely expressive. I like to give the students opportunity to explore this as soon as possible with exercises in improvisation and experimentation.
