About Teun
My name is Teun (tone)! With a doctorate in music and over 21 years of teaching and performance experience, I bring a passionate and professional approach to every lesson. My background spans diverse musical disciplines, including percussion, conducting, and ensemble coaching, making me uniquely equipped to cater to students of all levels and aspirations. I prioritize creating a supportive and engaging environment, tailoring each lesson to the individual’s goals, whether they’re beginners exploring rhythm for the first time or advanced musicians perfecting their craft. My teaching combines structured techniques with creativity, helping students not just master their instruments but connect deeply with the music they play. What sets me apart is my ability to inspire confidence and foster growth by meeting students where they are. From instilling fundamental skills to coaching for performances or auditions, my lessons are designed for learners of all ages and backgrounds who are eager to explore and achieve their musical potential. Music is a universal language, and I’m here to help you speak it fluently!

My Approach as a Tutor: Inspiring Musicianship and Growth
As a dedicated music tutor, my teaching approach blends personalized instruction with innovative techniques. I emphasize creating a positive, engaging environment where students feel motivated to explore and excel in their craft. Each lesson is tailored to individual needs, ensuring a balance of technical skill-building, creative expression, and theoretical understanding.
A typical lesson plan begins with warm-ups and technique exercises, followed by a focus on repertoire and improvisation. For advanced students, lessons may also include discussions of music history, conducting strategies, or ensemble dynamics. My methods integrate modern tools, such as music software and recording, alongside traditional techniques to develop well-rounded musicians.
My ability to connect with students of all levels sets me apart—whether it's beginners discovering their first notes, intermediate players refining their style, or advanced musicians preparing for auditions or performances. I specialize in percussion, conducting, ensemble coaching, and general music education, offering a depth of expertise honed through years of experience as both an educator and a performer.
My lessons are ideal for learners of all ages and backgrounds, from high school and college students seeking to expand their musical foundation to community members pursuing lifelong learning in the arts. As a tutor, I take pride in fostering each student's potential and passion for music, empowering them to achieve their goals with confidence.
