About Kai
Hi, my name is Kai. With over 12 years of professional tutoring experience, my journey began in high school, teaching elementary and middle school math. In college, I expanded my role as a teaching assistant, dedicating several office hours each week to help students with homework, exam preparation, and project completion. Beyond my teaching assistant duties, I offered private tutoring in subjects such as pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, multivariate calculus, and various other math levels. My qualifications include Algebra I, Algebra II, all levels of calculus, trigonometry, geometry, and pre-calculus.

Objective:
By the end of this lesson, learners will be able to understand the concept of derivatives as the rate of change of a function and compute derivatives of basic functions using the power rule

Review the concept of the derivative as the instantaneous rate of change.
Differentiation Rules
Power rule
Provide examples and have students practice applying these rules.
Application of Derivatives
Briefly discuss real-world applications of derivatives, such as finding instantaneous velocity or acceleration from position functions.
Practice Problems
Provide a variety of problems for the students to practice finding derivatives using the power rule
Review and Conclusion
Go over the practice problems with the student walking through and clearly outlining each step they took to find the derivative
Address all questions
Summarize key concepts
Homework: Assign additional practice problems for students to reinforce their understanding of derivatives.
