About Jennifer

I am a 200 hour certified yoga instructor under the Hatha Sivananda style of Yoga. This is a meditative and restorative form of yoga. I have been practicing yoga for 10 years. I also enjoy teaching strength and balance yoga that entails extended holds in more advanced postures. Yin yoga (for deep joint stretching and release)is also a pleasure to teach, which includes longer holds in restorative poses with the aid of props. Largely, classes are adapted to the students personal needs and capabilities. One on one yoga provides ample time to adapt and perfect asanas to suit each individual's needs. My teaching also follows intuitive guidelines inspired by each student. Various forms of meditation, relaxation, and pranayama (breathing techniques) are key components of class. I have also been studying scriptures and spiritual philosophies from around the globe for the past 10 years and have much to offer in the practice of simple living and spiritual perspectives.

I wanted to share and spread the healing practice of yoga. I began teaching at the YMCA in Cleveland and am now teaching in Toledo

About the lesson

We begin with a short interview about physical health concerns, areas of pain or dysfunction, mental disruptions and student goals and resolutions. We begin with gentle forms of various asanas to discover capabilities and limitations.

Mostly middle-aged women, some with very stiff muscles and various ailments, others quite capable of most postures.

Seek a humble teacher interested in the spiritual, meditative, and virtuous aspects of yoga, not soley a fitness instructor. We are all students and we are all teachers. Physical (Hatha) yoga is but one step of one branch of 4 branches of Yoga. The word 'yoga' translates to 'yoke' as in to create a strong union between the individual soul and the overarching omnipotent Soul or higher self (God, Great Spirit, Krishna, Allah, call it whatever you like)

Rainbow gatherings: a forest retreat with fellow awakened persons and spiritual seekers, exemplifying the practices of simplicity, generosity, and serving one another in endless ways. Also a return to the purity of undeveloped forest to re-connect with one's primal nature, innocence and intuition.
