About Susan

I am a 500 hr RYT with Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin certification with additional training in Trauma Informed Yoga. I began my practice 9 years ago and have found balance and peace as a student and joy as a teacher. Meditation, mindfulness and breath work are the foundational elements that connect the physical to the spiritual practice, and are key to my teaching style. Whether it’s guiding a vinyasa, yin or a gentle yoga class, my goal is to help students find their own practice and enjoy all the benefits yoga brings.

My first yoga class was in a gym and I was hooked on the physical benefits. Not until my son died by suicide some years later did I discover how breathing - learning how to breathe, paying attention to my breath - and yoga would have a profound impact on my life and healing journey.

Through years of practice I found balance and peace as a student and joy as a teacher. Meditation, mindfulness and breath work are the foundational elements that connect the physical to the spiritual practice, and are key to my teaching style.

I am a 500 hour registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. My training includes: Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Hatha, and Trauma Informed training.

I've logged more than 500 hours of teaching studio classes, small group lessons and individuals.

About the lesson

After receiving an inquiry, I like to set up a phone call to discuss the needs and desires of the student. Some questions might be: "What would you like to achieve?" "Why did you choose private yoga?"

After the phone call, we might meet in person for a more indepth discussion.

At that point, the student can decide if they want move forward and I'll build a customized plan.

I've worked with students of all levels from those totally new to yoga to very experienced. Many of my students are middle age or older adults who are looking to experience the benefits of yoga and have some reservations.

When a student is looking for a private yoga instructor, I think after looking at credentials, their website and social media, a first phone call is important. Both student and teacher need to be comfortable and in alignment with what the student is looking for and you should be able to determine that from the call.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before a student talks with the teacher it's helpful to think about your intention for private yoga. Be honest about what you hope to achieve and any limitations you might have. This is helpful for the teacher to determine if they are the right person to help you, as well as designing a program that will meet your goals.
