About Barbara

I have been a Kripalu-style yoga teacher since 1995, and have studied Iyengar, Anusara, Feldenkrais, Somatics and many other forms of movement as well. My classes are eclectic - each class has a theme; some focus on a body part like tight hips or hamstrings, strengthening the back and shoulders, or opening the heart. Others focus on a concept like yoga for better sleep or for seasonal allergies, bolstering the immune system, or yoga for more energy.

Classes start with a relaxing restorative pose - a few minutes to lie down, get centered, change gears. Then plenty of appropriate warm ups, a breathing exercise, the yoga itself, and we finish up with a lying-down, inch-by-inch relaxation. Strengthening, balancing, and rejuvenating!

I teach at yoga studios, companies, and give many private yoga classes.

My yoga education: After teaching Kripalu-style yoga for 15 years I returned to my yoga studies and earned an Advanced Teaching Certificate from Barbara Benaugh at The Yoga Studio in Brookline, MA (200 hrs). Two years after that I earned a Certificate in Silver Age Yoga (how to modify poses to safely teach it to seniors).
