About Sarah

While tutoring a student my primary focus is on what it is they think is most important to learn and have them figure out which subjects in mathematics are almost confusing and how to get through them. Not only do I want to teach them how to do it but also teach them how they could figure it out on their own.

I guess the best thing about tutoring a student is when they finally get so good at a specific subject they could do it themselves with out any help.

I started of tutoring my siblings and my neighbors kids but then began tutoring other students in my school. I don't have a teaching degree or am a professional tutor but I have a lot of experience teching kids from a range of ages mathematics. 



I graduated with honors in mathematics in high school and am currently majoring  in computer science at NYIT.

I like to get a little familiar with my students first so that they aren't too afear to be themselves around me and ask questions but I also like to keep a professional out come so that they know I'm here to teach them. I prioritize the student's weakness in the subject above all else so that they may improve. Secondly I help with all school and non school related activities to do with mathematics. 



I've taught students from the ages of 5-19 and I've also taught students that with special needs as well. 



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
One question I would suggest students ask themselves before asking a teacher for help is if they could do it themselves or find out how to do it using other resources. Learning to do problems by yourself helps majorly in the learning process not only does it help you to understand what it is you're learning but also retain that information.

Honestly, I personally prefer to charge $20 an hour, but this price is always negotiable depending on the circumstances.
