•I used to tutor for National Honors Society for the last 2 years at Boys and Girls Club and out of different elementary schools.

•I graduated with honors at my high school and was a scholar athlete throughout high school.

•I took multiple AP classes and college level courses.

•I am a high school graduate and a student at MSU studying Human Biology.

I love seeing the look of joy on students faces when they finally understand a concept that they previously struggled with. I want students to be excited to learn new things and I want to be able to help them in any way I can.

I decided to join NHS and I started volunteering. I loved working with kids so I wanted to continue.

I was a tutor at Boys and Girls Club and at other elementary schools in my area before COVID. I would work with all aged elementary schoolers.

About the lesson

I get to know my students. I ask about their interests and what they enjoy doing. I then ask about what challenges them in school. When they explain what they need help with I will ask them about what in particular challenges them. I will help them work through problems and support them in any means necessary. I will give extra problems and see if they can complete them on their own. I will work with them until they understand the concepts in which ever way suits them best.
