About Marsha

Hello, I am a very passionate, patient, and creative person who has over 20 years of teaching, training, and educational experience. As an environmentalist, with a M.S. degree in Occupational and Environmental Heath, my background is biology, chemistry, other sciences, and math. I believe children need to learn and be taught in a fun and educational manner. Having fun during any learning session is fundamental! As a former teacher, I am passionate about and enjoy working with people, especially children. As a STEM major, I love to see a child's expression of awareness and amazement when they grasp a mathematical concept. Teaching students in a fun, productive, and professional manner is key to my success. In my present position, I educate the public about liability exposures and develop feasible controls to reduce losses. I enjoy working with people and providing educational tools to meet their challenges, and assisting them to develop strategies to excell in any area they desire.

Actually I started teaching my five younger siblings every summer when I was in middle and high school. My older sister and I held morning classes to tutor our siblings in math, reading, science, and handwriting.  I first taught formally, 30 years ago when my son was in kindergarten and first grade.  Additionally, I was a girl's scout group leader when my daughter was a scout from age 5 - 10 years.  



My educational experience includes two years of formal elementary school teaching and over 20 years of formal training for the insurance industry: project management,  defensive driver, and various  OSHA-required training sessions.  I have worked with large and small groups; and in one-on-one sessions. Enjoying education, tutoring, and having patience are factors I possess.  Rewarding achievements are also key to success.  Children need encouragement, kind words, and small rewards.

First, we'll introduce ourselves, discussing our interests in life: social, educational, musical, physical, etc. Next, we will discuss successes and challenges in the areas the child needs assistance with. Thirdly, we will brainstorm on next steps: the best methods for tutoring success in achieving goals.  Starting with and keeping a friendly, positive atmosphere and smiles during the process.  



Girls and boys, in grade and middle school.  Various personalities and cultures.  I enjoy working with children.  Currently,  I work with middle school students in a STEAM program on a monthly basis. 



My women's charity chapter of a national organization, took approximately 10 students to the Houston Energy Festival for 3 hours. We all learned about current innovative energy technologies being used in Texas, the U.S. , and the world.
