About Courtney

My background is in chemical research and product development as a cosmetic chemist and a practical business educator, with a blend of both science and business skills.

In the past, I have taught business economics courses at Lone Star College and have mentored as a college success coach at Houston Community College. I also own a small business (CJH BAKE-Lab, (concealed information) ), which incorporates teaching enriching programs of business and science to youth using eclectic food and art projects. I am also certified for teaching business and finance content areas to high-schoolers in the state of Texas, and am passionate about teaching budding entrepreneurs at the collegiate level in both undergraduate and MBA programs. In addition, I am studying towards my Ph.D. in Business Marketing, with a focus in consumer behavior.

I enjoy engaging with students in a way that makes tough disciplines of science and math relatable and easy to comprehend.

I started in 2011 as a science enrichment provider for local school districts, as a business vendor.

I am a former chemist, and I have also worked as a science enrichment provider for local school districts (as a vendor) for 10 years. I have also taught special needs students for 2 years (full-time). I am also working on my PhD in business marketing with a focus in consumer behavior.

About the lesson

I ask the parents for an overview of their child's needs, and what content deficiencies are present that will require my expertise and help.

I have worked with students from all backgrounds of life and educational levels.

Evaluate their resume, and ask what they enjoy doing (versus what they have had to do for a living). If they love teaching, you want that person.

I recently experienced the Grand Canyon with my family. It was glorious!
