About Hedda
I am an undergraduate civil engineering student in the honors college at the University of Houston. On a colligiate level, I have taken calculus I and II and my grades were 100 and 97 respectivley. I am new to tutoring on a professional level but I have two younger siblings in 7th and 9th grade that I have been helping with math and other subjects.
Math is a fantastic subject and I strive to make my students think math is fun - because it really can be. What made math fun for me and what I therefore want to teach my students is to write down calculations in a tidy way that is easy to follow. It makes the work more rewarding but it also makes it easier to go back and find errors if the answer is wrong. When I truly learned how to do this, my math grade improved drasticlly and after that I have found myself thinking math is a lot easier.
I want to create a safe learning environment where my students feel comfortable asking questions and giving me feedback if they want to change the way we work together. The most important thing is that we find a way to work that is fun and developing simuntaneously.
Here are some of my qualifications and accomplishments:
- 3.95 cumulative GPA for my freshman year at UH
- Dean's list for fall 2020 and spring 2021
- 4.0 high school GPA
- A in all math courses from 9th grade
- Part of the UH swim and dive team
