About Brian
I just graduated from high school with over 60 hours of college credit including Calculus 3 and Differential Equations. I have always loved seeing my fellow students grow i their understanding of mathematics, and I have always striven to learn through teaching. I have found the best retention and depth of learning occurs through communicating to others. I received 1st place overall at my regional math competition all four years of high school, and the primary reason that was possible, was my desire to improve the learning of my classmates. By teaching, learning blooms. I also received a 35 on my ACT and the math portion of the ACT, so I can aid in that specific context as well.
I have always loved learning, and I learned early in school that the best way to learn, is to teach. Because of this, I have taken every opportunity to help students with their math education for the past 4 years at least.
I have numerous individual mathematics awards from 4th grade through high school, including 1st overall at the last four regional competitions I attended.
I have completed math courses up to Calculus 3, Differential Equations, and Elementary Statistics.
I took the ACT once in high school, and I received a 35 overall and on the math section.
I received my high school's Most Outstanding Student in the field of Mathematics. The class size was a little over 300

My primary interest is accomplishing the task I have been hired to do. Second to that narrowly, is the educational welfare of whomever I am helping. I don't ever want to sacrifice the long-term understanding of a student for the short-term benefits of getting answers correct. That is why I will always establish a foundation first. I have to know what structure exists, so that when I try building on top of it, it doesn't all come crashing down. I run diagnostics to assess the current level a student is at, then work to build fundamentally from there, never taking too large of steps. The way to excel at mathematics is not luck, memorizing, or just knowing. It is a deep understanding of the way numbers interact. This is teachable, just like cooking. It isn't always easy, but it can be done.
Primarily, I have worked with high school and college students, but have done some with middle school as well.

My pricing is flexible, as I care about providing aid to those who need it more than those who can afford it, and with preferential rates for students who have proven to do the work I ask of them. No one likes a student that doesn't want to learn, or doesn't take the steps needed to improve. That is a waste of everyone's time. Pricing estimates start at approximately $20 an hour.
