First, it's very important to me to reach a comfortable enviroment for both, which sometimes can take a bit of time, especially online! But, when you really take the time to get to know each other a little better, both parties will profit. The Tutor can reach out better to the student and the student will have more motivation to learn, which saves a lot of time in the end.
Next, it's important to me to introduce the student into the language. How do you want to be motivated to learn something, without getting any benifits? Often, learning about a language origins can help enormously seeing a sense in learing it. If the student already has a personal reason, a couple more can still increase it and make a language seem even more interesting. Also, it can reduce fear connected to a language.
At last I want to mention, that I want to teach more reality - related than school usually does. Learning a language in school scares people and does not have a high success rate. Instead, I want to take the student by the hand and teach the really important thing: Actual communication. Who needs to know, especially in the beginning, what stick insect means in German? Well, noone!
