About Susie

I believe that learning a language is one of the most valuable things a person can do. First of all, it is a great resume builder, and application booster (it is honestly just plain cool), but beyond that, it is a bridgebuilder, mind expander, and allows you to connect with the world in a way you couldn't before.

I started learning German during my freshman year of high school. I chose German because I have a lot of ancestry that stems from German-speaking countries such as Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. A year after graduating high school I had the opportunity to live between these three countries for a year and a half. During that time I was emersed in the language and became fluent in conversation.

Even though not very many people speak German in the United States, it is an extremely useful language when traveling to Europe. It is one of the most spoken languages there and is central to business as well.

My goal is to help students gain a basic knowledge of German. I want to help my students expand their vocabulary, grammar, conversation skills, and understanding of German customs and culture.

I started teaching German while I was living in Germany. I was still fairly new to German at the time, but I helped in German classes that were aiming to help refugees from middle eastern countries to learn how to speak German so that they could be more integrated into German culture.

Most of my German knowledge comes from living in German-speaking countries. I am great in conversation and in basic grammar and vocabulary. I can also be a great resource for outgoing missionaries who will be serving in a German-speaking country.

About the lesson

I have mostly worked with students learning German from a language other than English (mostly languages like Arabic or Persian) so I am excited to start teaching native English speakers!
