About Isabel
I am a recent graduate from Liberty University. My focus was education, specifically teaching english as a second language (TESL) or ESL. I interned with a teaching program this past year where I taught English to students from South America, Asia and North Africa. I have been able to observe and see what methods of teaching are useful for students coming from differing languages and cultures. I love to learn about each of my students and their backgrounds. I think it is important to understand why the student wants to learn English in order to meet them where they are academically. I prioritize asking the student what they would like to practice in order to be able to reach their language learning goals. I am intentional with each of my students and will work hard to make sure they understand content and are able to use it correctly.
Although I focused on TESL, I also have had experience teaching elementary level classes. I feel confident in my ability to be able to help students with any English struggles they may face whether it is reading, writing or comprehension. I try to be intentional with each student, meeting them where they are and working through content slowly. My goal is to foster a comfortable learning environment that encourages and allows for students to grasp the material being taught. I will alter my teaching methods based on what the student or parents may prefer.
