I am a first year ESL teacher, and I have had the pleasure of working with Donnie for the majority of this school year. He has been a terrific teacher's aide in the classroom. He is always ready to help, and he goes out of his way to form relationships with students and encourage them in their studies. He is very caring, intelligent, patient, and hardworking. You can see that he cares about others and about the students that he works with. His ability to speak Spanish has been a tremendous help with my Spanish-speaking ESL students. He has been able to connect with the kids and their language and culture and has helped me connect to them as well. He also does a great job at finding real-world connections to students' learning and building bridges between academics and real life. He has a heart for teaching, and he is the kind of teacher that I hope students get to have at least once in their lives: someone who truly cares for them and their future.
