About Shanel
Shanel Romain is an interdisciplinary artist specializing in photography and visual art. Although she’s primarily self-taught, the artist has honed her skills through various classes. She got her start in Drawing 101 and Painting 101 while a sophomore at college where she learned how to “see” as an artist. In 2014 she began teaching at paint parties, since then she’s helped hundreds of people discover their "inner artist" throughout the Chicagoland area. I started in 2014 teaching art through an art studio in Chicago. There was a need for an art instructor and I was simply available to do it and from there my passion for teaching art has only grown :)

I like to get to know what skill level they're currently at. Typically I review any work they may have in their portfolio or sketchbooks. From there we start with the basics and depending on how advanced they are, it will determine how long we focus on the basics of drawing or painting.
Amateur students ranging from 10 years old to 60 plus years old from various walks of life but mainly located in the Chicagoland area.
Anyone can be taught how to draw and paint with the right training. Don't ever think you or your skillset is not good enough. You're more than capable of achieving this skill with a lot of practice and patience.
