About Shadoe

I've been performing theatre, opera, and at theme parks for over 10 years and working with students for over 7! My favorite part of working with a student and helping them find the moment where everything clicks or they make a new discovery. Seeing the joy in a breakthrough makes every bit of work worth every moment of time spent!

Upon recieving my BM in Vocal Performance, I began teaching voice lessons privately while also coaching a collegiate musical theatre ensemble. I've been working with students from then on.

I have a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Master of Art in Musical Theatre.

I have over 10 years of blended credits in musicals, operas, and plays.

Some of my favorite are Godspell, Songs for a New World, Ragtime, Shakespeare's The Tempest (Play), La Nozze di Figaro (Opera), and Romeo et Juliett (Opera)

About the lesson

I always start with an initial meet & greet just to get aquainted with each other and see what your goals throughout this process.

From then on, we'll begin with building a foundation of healthy technique, artistry, and communication and build from there as our time goes on.

I've worked with beginners looking to do community theatre as well students looking to audition for colleges and professional organizations. I typically work with students from the ages of 12 and up, but that is certainly not set in stone!

You want someone who is going to listen to your thoughts and goals as well as teach you to listen to and use your own body as an overall tool for your craft. Doing this allows a safe and healthy space to learn and grow and ask questions.

I had a student had been in a couple of community productions in an ensemble setting and he really wanted to audition for a named role in an upcoming shakespeare show. The audition was at the end of the summer and he wanted to start coaching at the beginning of the summer, just before school let out, so he could have time to get really confident in his audition material. We met for an hour every week that summer and, together, we were able to find an appropiate monologue, trim it down to fit the audition requirement, and then prep the audition. With each coaching he found a better understanding of his character, finding a genuine place of performing the material, and gained greater confidence in his own ability. When it came time for his audition, he messaged me to let me know that he was nervous but felt so confident in the work he done to prepare for this moment. A couple of days later, he called me with so much excitement to let me know that he got a named role AND was an understudy for a principle role. I felt such joy and satisfaction In that moment knowing that I was able to be a part of that journey for him!
