About Doug

When I first began to learn to act, I found that many teachers made it harder than it needed to be. It was like they wanted to keep the process a mystery so they could keep actors as students indefinitely.

I break down acting into easily understood terms that allow students to build a firm foundation that will serve them throughout their career.

As I said I worked with master teacher Cliff Osmond for many years. One day he asked me to sub a class for him. I found I enjoyed it a great deal. So I began teaching those classes when he was unavailable. I also started working with commercial casting directors to teach commercial acting which I've been doing for over 20 years.

I worked for 20 years with master teacher Cliff Osmond and eventually ended up teaching many of his classes for him.

About the lesson

I evaluate each student individually to learn what they know about acting and get some personal information. Then, I apply what I've learned to help them develop a method to approach any scene--a method that will serve them throughout their career.

I have worked with inexperienced students and veterans of the business from 6 to 80 years old. I've taught students in 10 US cities and done two tours of Japan teaching American acting to Japanese students.

Look for someone who speaks to you in practical terms that you can understand.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are my goals? Am I doing this for amusement or do I want to make a career out of it? Am I driven by ego or passion?
