My private acting classes are centered around students learning acting skills specifically in order to perform monologues, scene-work and cold-readings fully and spontaneously. Great attention will be paid to making your whole acting package professional, positive and effective.
Child - beginner to advanced
Teenager - beginner to advanced
Adult - beginner to advanced
I ask my students lot of questions. In order for each student to truly connect with the text/lyrics and the character, the answers to the truth of the text/lyric must be theirs - not mine. If students feels more comfortable signing, we will use their musical knowledge of rhythm and dynamics and pull upon that to accentuate their “straight” acting for the monologues.
My private students have recently been accepted at the following institutions:
Interlochen
Pace
Wright State University
Atlantic Theatre Acting School
University of Virginia
Ohio Wesleyan University
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be prepared to identify to the teacher what it is you want to accomplish by taking acting lessons. Milestones are important and keep both the student and and the teacher on-task.

Joe really cares about his students or as he would put it, "Putting them in the best possible place to succeed".
I have been one of Joe's students for four years now and have had the pleasure to collaborate with him onstage as well as privately as my acting coach.
As a beginner in the field, he was patient but wasn't afraid to push me. I believe both traits are incredibly important at that stage.
Today, he shows the same. He fosters a lesson space that feels like actual collaboration. I can make mistakes and explore possibilities with his guidance. This is important because it makes my portfolio my own. The work that we do feels like something we created rather than just words I memorized off of a page.
As an artist, he gives me a lot of think about and it is difficult to overstate the impact of our collaboration.Joe has years worth of knowledge to share with you. He makes sure that the time you have is used and does not allow small talk to hinder the lesson. He has lots of material to pass on to you if you need help. He guides you in a way that makes you see the monologue differently on paper and allows you to create a roadmap. His lessons are also a place for a lot of self discovery and you leave with the attitude of acting beyond the originally scope isn't always a bad thing.
Joe, has quite the resume when it comes to acting and directing. He brings that along with his passion and enthusiasm to each lesson. He's the guy to work with if you want to take your story telling, acting, public speaking to the next level!
Joe has pushed me beyond what I ever thought I ever could accomplish. His approach is practical and tailored to the individual student. Joe doesn't waste time by overcomplicating the process of developing characters and stories. Joe gives his students the practical and effective tools to become an immediate and authentic storyteller. Joe is an experienced actor himself, making his teaching style fresh, relevant and exciting.
