About Austin

11 years of professional musical theatre in Atlanta. Winner of two Suzi Bass Awards for Best Featured Actor in a musical 2014/15 for Will Parker in Serenbe Playhouse’s Oklahoma! and Angel in RENT at Actor’s Express.

My strengths are in musical comedy and dance/movement. I am known for energetic, lively performances.

Having worked at the Alliance, Aurora Theatre, Actor’s Express, the Atlanta Lyric, Serenbe Playhouse, 5th Floor Productions NYC, and Disney Cruise Line to name a few, I have a unique view/insight into the business.

My goal is to coach students for upcoming auditions. Provide them the tools for giving their best audition and work with them on discovering their own process.

You will also learn techniques to best present yourself in the room in front of casting personel.

Theatre is personal. Through my coaching you will discover how to access your emotions and use them at will all while remaining truthful!

I began teaching students at St Martin when I was directed by the head of their drama department at Horizon Theatre Company. Through my job as dance captain, she noticed my leadership skills and offered me my first teaching spot. It was successful and led to a second year. I will be working there again in the next school year.

I have been in professional theatre since the age of 17. That’s 11 years!

I have participated in over 30 full scale musicals, outdoor musicals, cruise ships, and houses that seat thousands!

Currently, I work as a choreographer at St. Martin Episcopal School. The numbers I choreographed for the students were chosen to move on to the National Thespian Festival two years in a row!

About the lesson

I am very flexible. I like to begin first lesson with having the student bring in material they have been working on. (Think of this as a trial class)

It is really to get to know each other (teacher and student) to see if we will be a good fit to work together.

In my experience, the best growth happens wheb the student is comfortable with the teacher!

I have worked with 6-8th grades at St.Martin and acting apprentices from the Atlanta area.

Acting apprentices are fresh graduates from college who spend a year interning at a professional theatre in Atlanta.

the three apprentice students I coached all booked their first musical out of the gate after working with me!

Find someone who makes you feel great while also being brutally honest at times. Theatre is about knowing yourself inside and out. Sometimes that can be difficult but with the right coach, only good will come!

Details

I believe that access to training should be affordable.

First session is $75 for a 1.5 hour meet and greet/first coaching.

Sessions following the first: $30 for half hour or $60 an hour!
