About Selin

I have four years teaching English experience-4 years in classroom (1 year in London, 1 year in Italy and 2 years in Spain) and over 1 year teaching English online to students in Russia and China. My last classroom post was for the British Council in Barcelona, Spain and I was teaching young learners general English and preparing them for exams such as: PET, KET, MOVERS AND FLYERS Cambridge First, Advanced and Proficiency to name a few. The British Council gave me thorough training and taught me how to become a better teacher with more dynamic and engaging lessons which I now use with all my students. I also taught at various companies and language academies where I taught teens and adults a range of General to Business English both in a classroom and one to one. I have many years of experience of teaching all levels, ages and preparing lessons and tailoring them for individual needs as well as supporting students and liaising with staff. As well as marking and report writing and task setting to name but a few of my skills attained during my teaching career. Preparing and presenting and executing is a skill I have sharpened along the years and built my confidence into the confident, powerful, skilled lecturer I am today. I am specialized and prefer teaching pre-intermediate to upper intermediate and advanced/proficiency. I also have vast experience in test creation and test marking,

I am a native English speaker from London, England. I am an ESL teacher with a CELTA from International House London. A few of the skills I’ve attained whilst teaching are: marking, report writing and task setting to name but a few. Preparing and presenting and executing is a skill I have sharpened along the years and built my confidence into the confident, powerful, skilled lecturer I am today. I am specialized and prefer teaching pre-intermediate to upper intermediate and advanced/proficiency as I feel my studies and experience are put to good use. I also have vast experience in test creation and test marking. I also recently worked 6 months in a temporary position in a nursery in London which help me sharpen my EYFL skills.

I have a First Class Degree and a Masters from UCL in Italian and Spanish with Translation Studies, obtaining a First Class Honours for my Bachelors. This enabled me to have a profound knowledge in Linguistics. I also speak fluent Italian (my mother is Italian) and fluent Spanish and could also teach these if the opportunity arose. I also speak intermediate Turkish (as my father is Turkish). Coming from a linguistic background and being an avid linguist makes me understands the students pitfalls and triumphs of language learning firsthand so I can put myself in the students’ shoes.
