About Yi

I am a dedicated and patient tutor with a strong quantitative and analytical background. I hold an MBA from Cornell University and Queen’s University, a Master in Finance from London Business School (LBS), a BS in Finance from Indiana University Bloomington, and am a qualified Canada CPA (with AICPA experience). With fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese, I bring international perspectives and clear communication to every lesson.
Although I have extensive professional experience in finance and business, I am passionate about helping high school students build a solid foundation in mathematics. My deep understanding of advanced quantitative concepts allows me to explain Grade 9-10 Mathematics, Grade 11 Functions, Grade 12 Advanced Functions, Data Management, and SAT Math in a practical, intuitive way — connecting abstract theories to real-world applications in finance and data analysis.

About the lesson

I offer personalized, one-on-one tutoring for Grade 9-10 Mathematics, Grade 11 Functions, Grade 12 Advanced Functions, Data Management, and SAT Math. With my strong quantitative finance background from Cornell University, Queen’s University MBA, London Business School Master in Finance, and Canada CPA designation, I help students not only master the required curriculum but also understand the practical applications behind mathematical concepts.
In each lesson, we start by identifying your current level and specific challenges. I then explain key concepts clearly using real-world examples from finance and data analysis, making abstract topics like derivatives, optimization, and SAT problem-solving strategies much more intuitive. We combine theory with plenty of practice problems, past exam questions, and targeted SAT-style drills. I provide step-by-step guidance, immediate feedback, and customized notes or homework to reinforce learning.
Lessons are available online via Zoom or in-person in the Richmond Hill / North York area. I teach in English and Chinese (Mandarin) to ensure clear understanding, especially for bilingual families. Whether you need regular support for Ontario Grade 9-12 math, exam preparation, or boosting your SAT Math score for university applications, my goal is to build your confidence and help you achieve strong results with patient, structured, and results-oriented teaching.
