About Eva
I have honed my teaching abilities over many years and in different institutions and countries. From language classes for A levels to engineers and students at universities. I have taught also at Goethe Institute Rome and prepared for Goethe exams (Zertifikat and Mittelstufenprüfung), with excellent results. Clients have ranged from students at school to professionals in banks and law firms. Students have told me that they feel very comfortable in my lessons and some have gone on to become personal friends.

One to one online is the perfect way to improve your accent and your grammar and really get to grips with learning another language. My lessons are carefully structured, addressing both your own particular needs and your interests. Whether you are at school or university grappling with exams, or wishing to improve your accent and general speaking ability for the workplace– or even, dare one hope, anticipating a post covid holiday – I can offer you a careful, well-constructed course of lessons, tailored just for you. My methods are very much in keeping with the latest research into effective language learning and incorporate constant revision techniques. In order to make rapid progress, you will be asked, timetable permitting, to put in a fair bit of extra work on your own. I have always found that makes a great deal of difference, especially as one gets older. I use games, puzzles, video, radio podcasts and newspaper and magazine articles, as well as books and specially prepared texts for an interesting and varied learning experience. Depending on your level, I will also teach in German as much as possible, so that you are bathed in the language, but I can also use English or Italian or French as the medium of instruction if preferred. I aim to be especially clear and careful when explaining the vagaries of German verbs, for example, or the intricacies of grammar. Lessons are recorded and students are encouraged to revisit them, when possible, using fast forward as necessary! A lot of my students have made progress and were proud of their achievement.

I think Eva is a serious but friendly teacher who really knows her stuff and I thoroughly recommend her. My own German was pretty rusty when I started having sessions with Eva, but she was patient and helpful, always ready with a quick explanation and/or the word I was so desperately seeking, and we had some great conversations on widely ranging topics. An excellent teacher if you want to become fluent in the language, get ahead and really sound German. And her Italian is brilliant too!
