About Caressa
Greetings! I'm Caressa, a passionate coach, mentor, and tutor dedicated to fostering student success. As a neurodivergent, multiracial Latina, and first-generation college student, I understand the unique challenges that underrepresented students face. My background in Chemical Engineering, along with my extensive involvement in UConn’s INCLUDE Project, has shaped my ability to provide empathetic support to students of diverse backgrounds and needs. Having grown up in Puerto Rico (age 12-17), I am bilingual in Spanish and English, and I am deeply committed to helping others improve their language skills. My tutoring philosophy blends positive psychology, a strength-based approach, and boundless compassion. As a graduate TA, mentor, and CONNECTS mentor, I’ve honed my ability to communicate effectively and offer personalized support to students. Whether you're learning Spanish or English as a second language, I tailor my lessons to meet your unique goals, helping you gain confidence and fluency.

I tailor my lessons to each student’s needs. Before we start, we’ll have a consultation to discuss your goals, strengths, and areas to focus on. For ESL learners, I’m especially passionate about helping you improve your language skills. If you're in university, I’ll ask for your course syllabus, and for K-12 students, I request homework assignments and any specific topics you'd like to work on. This helps me prepare lessons that will be most beneficial to you.
