About Syed
Hi! My name is Syed and I am second year Medical student studying at the University of Leicester. Although I may be a medical student, my favourite subject by far is maths. I love how maths is so practical in everyday life yet at the same time it helps explain the workings of our universe.
As a person, I thoroughly enjoy helping others, and this is where tutoring comes in. I hope to help my students succeed in maths and try to develop in them the same passion I have for the subject. My approach to teaching is one of understanding as I believe that nothing can be learnt without understanding. As such, I will ensure that my students understand and are comfortable with topics before moving forward. I will try to challenge them with difficult questions in order to help them further their ability in maths.
I have had numerous small teaching experiences throughout my life. I have participated in The West Bridgford School’s peer mentoring programme, through which I helped other students with their academic studies. I also coached younger kids at my local badminton club for a number of months, helping beginners to understand the basics of the game and also helping more intermediate players improve their technique. Most recently, my teaching experience has been of teaching Medical students in the year below, particularly on difficult topics. This I did regularly throughout the semester.
