My methods are different depending on course and topic but for math I usually you use the methods which I find really useful which is stating the main points of the topic going through a example then giving the student chance to do at least one on there own so if they have any problems with the topic, I could pin point where that problem is and focuse on solving that problem and try again, until they can complete the question on there own.
