Charlie is an absolutely fantastic surf instructor who can turn any session into a lifelong memory. His knowledge and experience is extensive since he has surfed breaks all over the world from NorCal to Nicaragua. He is patient, insightful, and makes sure to give feedback specific to the student's needs. I'm from Northern California, and am not a very experienced ocean swimmer and felt a little bit scared and uncomfortable in the water during my fist few sessions at Stinson Beach. Charlie made sure to assist me in safety and stayed by my side until I was acclimated, as well as helped me with technique, which gave me the confidence to paddle into waves on my own. His style of teaching is extremely effective, as he doesn't pander unnecessarily, but is really positive and supportive throughout the entire lesson. You know that Charlie is taking every moment seriously which makes the experience really fun and also fulfilling and truly gratifying. Charlie has every quality that makes an excellent teacher- and an excellent friend. He is patient, kind, and hilarious. But most importantly, his love and knowledge of surfing seemingly gives him clairvoyance. Charlie will walk up to a surf break, peer into the distance, and with one exhale its as if he lets out surfer sonar, reporting back the exact bathymetry of the seafloor. When you go out with Charlie, you're going to catch a lot of waves and make lasting memories.
