About Alex

I am currently a year 12 student attending Rangitoto College. I am 17 years old. I take year 12 IB mathematics in Rangitoto College, achieving all of the highest grades in tests. I have a strong passion for mathematics and enjoy helping others understand and appreciate the subject. By tutoring, I hope to share my knowledge, support students in improving their skills, and help them gain confidence in their math abilities. Throughout college journey, I have went through many challenges. I hope to be able to help students avoid these challenges and help them succeed.

About the lesson

- Can speak both fluent English and Chinese.
- Some of my achievements include: Scholarship Calculus, 3rd place in New Zealand 2023 in AMC (Australian Mathematics Competition), 1st place in Auckland Mathex, top 30 Otago Junior Mathematics Competition, etc.
- Ability to teach is represented through some academic and leadership roles within my school (Rangitoto College), such as Rangitoto Mathematics Competition Club Leader and Chinese Committee Leader.
- Have experience teaching math from not only Rangitoto Mathematics Competition Club, but also some previous private tutors.
- Can teach a range of topics within math, including: Algebra, Calculus (up to level 3), Competition-styles, and any other topics up to NCEA Level 3 (equivalent to year 13).

He’s always patient and friendly, and when I don’t understand something, he’ll go over it carefully until I get it. He also gives me extra practice and helps me understand things beyond what we learn in class. Thanks to Alex, my math has improved a lot, and I did much better in my exams.
