About Jamie
I’m a current MSc Physics & Engineering student at UCL with a BSc in Physics from the University of Leeds. I’ve spent the past year working as a Learning Support Assistant in a secondary school, helping students boost their confidence and grades in Maths and Science — both in class and through one-on-one sessions. My journey through physics has taught me how powerful curiosity and clear understanding can be — and that’s exactly what I want to share with my students. As a learning support assistant I’ve seen how a bit of encouragement and the right explanation can completely change how a student feels about a subject. I tutor because I genuinely enjoy helping students build confidence, see progress, and realise that these subjects aren’t just about getting answers right — they’re about learning how to think. My lessons are engaging, tailored to each student’s needs, and focused on building real understanding (not just memorising formulae!). My lessons are relaxed, supportive, and completely tailored to each student’s needs. I start by identifying what you already know and where the gaps are, then build a clear plan to strengthen understanding and confidence. I focus on breaking down tricky concepts into simple, logical steps — whether that’s mastering algebra, tackling physics problems, or improving exam technique. Each session includes plenty of practice questions, discussion, and real-world examples to make Maths and Science feel engaging and relevant. Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as that is how you really learn!
