About Lik (Wallace)
My name is Lik Wong (Wallace).
Aged 25, I was born and raised in Hong Kong. I moved to Canada for university education in 2016.
After spending a year at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), I transferred to the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2017. My Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree was conferred in 2021, with a major in Geography (Environment and Sustainability) and a minor in Sociology.
I decided to pursue a career in teaching after I had received my BA. While I have been tutoring, I received my Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate with Practicum (CTESL) from UBC in May 2022, Diploma in Education in TESL in May 2023 from UBC, and Master of Education in TESL from the University of Alberta in June 2025, respectively.
I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Education (Secondary), with Social Studies and Geography being my main teachable subjects, where I hope to receive my teacher's certificate this year if all things go well.
Teaching brings me great joy because I see it as a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and experience, and to witness the improvement and growth of my students. I strongly believe in the idea of "learning by doing" and often incorporate students’ hobbies as learning materials whenever possible, aiming to boost motivation, foster engagement, and encourage critical thinking. As a non-native English speaker myself, I am fully aware of the challenges and struggles my students may face, and I always strive to be accommodating and encouraging in my teaching approach.

I try to use my students' hobbies as teaching materials to make my lessons more interesting. I have been mainly teaching students who are between 9-17 years old, and I have taught adults before. My lesson normally includes an introduction, learning activity, feedback, and conclusion/review.
