About James
My name is James, I am a seasoned Standardized Test Tutor. I currently work as an adjunct instructor in several tutoring centers in NYC for the SAT/ACT, SHSAT, ISEE, Hunter High School Test as well as the GRE and GMAT.
I graduated from Columbia University with my master degree. I scored in the 90th percentile on the GRE Math section (780/800) and 98th percentile on the new Redesigned SAT Math Session (800/800). I was on deans-list and Admiral's for every semester during my undergraduate study and had obtained an overall GPA index of 3.75 for all my math class (Straight As).
Math skills are the future-proof skills. Through my teaching, I realized how to adjust my teaching style and benefit the students the most, Math can be fun and interesting and can also inspire many future engineers and scientists. I have help many students to get into their dream schools such as NYU, Cooper Union, Pennsylvania State University and many more.
In the past, I tutored for 4 years in Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry during my undergraduate years of study. And for 3 years, I tutored in China. I helped students prepare for the TOEFL and IELTS exams before I started taking classes at Columbia University, where I earned my Master's degree.
I can tutor effectively to students who wish to prepare for the SAT/ACT, SHSAT, GRE and GMAT exams with regards to the Quantitative Sections. Besides the standardized tests, I also help students with Algebra, Science, Probability and Statistics related subjects.
Over the last 10 years, I have been able to help over a hundred students to achieve significant improvements in their Standardized Test and get into their dream schools. I recently graduated from Columbia University in the city of New York with a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics. I also stay up to date with the changes in admissions policies through the frequent visit of schools and education consulting agency.

Algebra
First of all, I got As in all classes related to Algebra since high school. Second, I was a part-time tutor for teaching undergraduate student Algebra.
Calculus
I was the selected tutor for calculus I,II and III at SUNY Maritime College. I myself got As in all Calculus classes in college. I started tutoring in freshman year and tutored the whole 4 years of my study.
Physics
Physics is based on Maths. They are like two sister subjects which I have studied for years along my academic pursues.
Pre-Calculus
My major (Applied Math) requires me to master all-level calculus study including pre-calculus, calculus, ODE, PDE. I got A in all math classes in college including calculus, Differential Equations. That's why I'm confident that I'm also good at pre-calculus. Second, I was a part-time tutor for teaching undergraduate student pre-calculus during my studies at SUNY Maritime College.
SAT (math)
I just recently retook the New SAT math and scored an 800 for it in my tutoring center. And I have my own developed formula and topics sheet which proven to excel your score in SAT who are ambitious to aim for the perfect score.
Trigonometry
I have my own understanding of how to learn trigonometry fast and right for students. I will dig into the very background of the trigonometry ratio and start from there to extend the formula the variety of Half Angle and Double angle formulas as well as to understand the Squared angles summation formula.
