About Rae
I'm a bit loud, a bit eccentric, and very fun, but most importantly, can find that energy in anyone. I am very hands-on (metaphorically) and believe in meeting people where they are, not where they are expected to be. If something doesn't work for you, I will try something else. And, of course, I am here to help.
I started as a volunteer tutor in high school and have been improving my skills ever since. In college, I took a series of courses on social justice in tutoring, including how to remove racist, homophobic, and xenophobic language and behavior from your conversation and editing. I went on to edit essays for my peers, including ESOL students, while continuing my own study in biochemistry and biotechnology. I specialize in science writing, but I can edit just about anything.

I can help if you are in college or preparing to attend college soon. My main focus is building confidence and trust in the English language. I specialize in science writing, but can also help with creative and analytic writing. I am experienced with ESOL students and native speakers alike. I am best at teaching nontraditional learners and those who think that the world is not built for them.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Rae is a great tutor! I supervised them when they were a peer writing tutor at Warren Wilson College. They were kind, smart, and empathetic with students. They listened, asked great questions, and offered tips and strategies to meet students just where they were. Rae is passionate about learning and about supporting others to grow and learn at their own pace.
