About Ethan
Hi, I'm Ethan, a college student at Virginia Tech studying biochemistry in pursuit of being a dentist. I offer tutoring in arithmetic, algebra, and chemistry, with a focus on clear explanations and building strong foundations. I aim to help students feel confident about their subjects and can understand how subjects can be challenging at first. Hi, I’m Ethan, and as a tutor, my goal is to make arithmetic, algebra, and chemistry easier to understand, especially since these subjects can feel challenging at first. I start by getting to know each student’s current level of understanding and identifying any gaps in their foundational knowledge so we can focus on strengthening those areas.
A typical lesson begins with a short review of the material being covered. Students then work through practice problems while I observe where they may be getting stuck. From there, I provide clear, step-by-step explanations, point out common mistakes, and guide students as they work through similar problems on their own. At the end of each session, I summarize the key ideas that are likely to appear on exams and address any remaining questions or confusion.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my patience and flexibility. As a college student myself, I understand how frustrating it can be to struggle with certain concepts, and I can relate to how students feel when something does not click right away. I aim to keep lessons low-pressure while helping students make progress at an efficient pace.
These lessons are designed for elementary, middle school, and high school students who want to build confidence, strengthen fundamentals, or improve their performance in class.
