About Racine
I am a TEFL certified ESl tutor and have been tutoring English for three years. I also give TOEFL and accent reduction lessons. I have an Associate degree in Natural Science and am pursuing a Bachelors in Biochemistry.

I incorporate many teaching methodologies, strategies and techniques in my classes. According to my student's level and age I adjust the lesson and use the appropriate tools. I use the immersion and drilling methods as well as TPR to teach the target language and incorporate many other teaching resources such as props, pictographs and realia. For example if I am teaching an accent reduction (letter R- vocalic R) class then I would use a mouth prop to illustrate the movement and the dos and donts of our mouths. I would also need to use TPR as an additional illustration of my mouth and to also encourage the student when necessary. I am generally very positive and try to avoid negative language such as ' no'. Instead I say 'try again'. That way, the student knows the answer is incorrect without feeling stupid.
